Tabriz, the semi-annual black-tie gala that benefits the Arkansas Arts Center, is not until next spring but a committee of about 40 volunteers is already at work planning the two-day event. They gathered at the home of Kaki Hockersmith and Max Mehlburger on Aug. 28 for a cocktail party kickoff.
Tabriz is hosted by the Fine Arts Club and will be held March 12 and 14. It will start with a casual evening called the Bazaar of Tabriz featuring a silent auction and hot dogs. Tickets for the Bazaar will be $50. The big night, the gala, will focus on the Arts Center's Tabriz collection and honor the center's patrons. Tickets for the gala will be $750 and are limited to 350 guests.
Del Boyette is serving as chairman of Tabriz, with Millie Ward and Sara Hendricks-Batcheller serving as co-chairmen.
