North Carolina edges Arkansas

Annie Kingman’s goal in the 40th minute broke a tie game, and No. 12 North Carolina held No. 18 Arkansas without a shot on goal in the second half of a 2-1 victory on Sunday at the Duke Nike Classic in Durham, N.C.

Summer Green gave North Carolina (3-2-1) a 1-0 lead with her goal on a chip over Arkansas goalkeeper Cameron Carter’s head in the 17th minute. Two minutes later, Margaret Power scored for Arkansas to tie the game at 1-1.

But Klingman’s goal off a cross from the right side in the 39th minute proved to be the game winner. Carter finished with five saves for Arkansas (3-2-1).

ASU falls on road

The Arkansas State women gave up a goal in the 13th minute and was limited to three shots on goal in a 3-0 loss at Missouri State on Sunday in Springfield, Mo.

Missouri State’s Brooke Zimmerman scored off a free kick in the 13th minute to give Missouri State a 1-0 lead. Molly Huber and Molly Brewer added goals in the second half for the Bears (2-2-1). Huber’s came in the 54th minute and Brewer’s the 60th minute.

ASU fell to 1-4.

UCA shutout by Oklahoma

No. 20 Oklahoma scored three goals in the first half of a 5-0 victory over Central Arkansas on Sunday in Norman, Okla.

Shiloh Price scored in the 21st minute to give Oklahoma a 1-0 lead, while Madeline Brem added a goal in the 30th minute and Rasha Roberts made it 3-0 in the 40th minute. The Bears (3-2-1) were held to one shot.”

Harding comeback not enough

Harding scored two late goals in the second half, but lost 4-2 to Emporia State on Sunday in Searcy.

Mallory Walden’s goal in the 72nd minute gave Emporia State (2-0) a 3-0 lead, before Ashley Sampson scored for Harding (0-2) in the 76th minute to make it 3-1. Emporia State added a goal three minutes later to make it 4-1. Audrey Adkison scored its final goal in the 82nd minute.

Hendrix still winless

The Hendrix College men gave up two goals late in the first half of a 2-0 loss to Belhaven on Sunday in Conway.

Victor France scored in the 35th minute, Jose Presti scored in the 43rd for Behlhaven (2-1). Hendrix (0-3-1) did not have a shot on goal.

Lyon earns first victory

Katarina Frickleton had 15 kills and nine blocks to lead Lyon to a 25-13, 23-25, 25-22, 25-15 victory over Centenary College on Sunday in Memphis.

Emily Sprick added 14 kills, 26 assists and 10 digs for Lyon (1-6).
