A new art gallery in North Little Rock's Argenta Arts District opens at 6 p.m. Friday with an exhibit by watercolorist George Dombek.
Dombek is an abstract realist known for paintings of rocks, trees, flowers, barns and metal farm implements. His will be the first show held at Argenta Gallery, 413A and 413B Main St. The show hangs through Oct. 1.
Dombek will be on hand to sign copies of his new book, George Dombek: Paintings, a coffee-table book published by the University of Arkansas Press. The book documents the artist's life and work.
He will donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Art Connection, a project started by gallery owner John Gaudin. Art Connection has an after-school and summer visual arts work program for North Little Rock High School students.
Argenta Gallery also plans a show of photographs by Mike Disfarmer, the famed Heber Springs photographer, which opens Sept. 25 in conjunction with the Acansa Arts Festival and Argenta Theater's production of Werner Trieschmann's play Disfarmer. The photos hang until Sept. 27.
The gallery will open a show by Ray Wittenberg on Oct. 16.
