Music

Boston Brass -- Jose Sibaja and Jeff Conner, trumpets; Chris Castellanos, horn; Domingo Pagliuca, trombone; and Sam Pilafian, tuba -- will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott St., Little Rock. The first half of the program, titled "And the Nominees Are ...," consists of the quintet's "most-loved virtuosic musical selections," including Sibaja's arrangements of the "Ritual Fire Dance" from El Amor Brujo by Manuel de Falla, "Wachet auf" by J.S. Bach and "Verano Porteno" from The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Astor Piazolla; Castellanos' arrangements of Danza Fantastica by Joaquin Turina and "Primavera Portena" from Piazolla's The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires; and Pilafian's arrangement of the Overture to The Italian Girl in Algiers by Giocchino Rossini. • Country singer and Helena-West Helena native Matthew Huff will open the 2014-15 Warfield Concert Series with a performance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Beth El Heritage Hall, 406 Perry St., Helena-West Helena. The Muses will kick off their Opera Week, Saturday-Sept. 19 with two "Opera Classics" concerts, 6 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Muses Cultural Arts Center, 428 Orange St., Hot Springs. The program will include opera arias, duets and ensemble pieces from Georges Bizet's Carmen, Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata and Rigoletto, Giacomo Puccini's La Boheme, Franz Lehar's The Merry Widow and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute.
