Senatorial debate set for Oct. 14

U.S. Senate candidates Tom Cotton and Mark Pryor have accepted an invitation from the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce for a televised debate on Oct. 14.

Rep. Cotton, a Republican, accepted the invitation Thursday, and debate moderator Roby Brock informed Pryor’s campaign. Sen. Pryor, a Democrat, had agreed to the debate on July 17.

Erik Dorey, a spokesman for Pryor's campaign, said both campaigns have agreed to include a broad range of domestic topics, including education, transportation and the economic development. A statement from Cotton's office Thursday also listed health care, immigration, tax reform and agriculture policy among the issues to be debated.

“Beyond that, it is up to the panelists and the journalists to make up the specific questions,” Dorey said.

The debate will be broadcast by KATV, channel 7 in Little Rock; KHOG-KHBS, channels 40/29 in Northwest Arkansas; and KAIT, channel 8 in Jonesboro.
