UA hires Taylor for research post

A new administrator has been hired to help support faculty research at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, the university announced Wednesday.

Jennifer Taylor has been appointed assistant vice provost for research and sponsored programs.

“She will instill effective support for our campus investigators at a time when the number of our research proposals is growing and the number of our research awards is at an all-time high. We look forward to her leadership as the University of Arkansas research enterprise continues to grow,” said Jim Rankin, vice provost for research and economic development, in a statement.

Taylor, who will earn a salary of $125,000, began work Monday. Previously she worked at Vanderbilt University in its Office of Sponsored Programs.

“My goal is for our office to provide excellence in customer service and support to our campus researchers as they are engaged in all phases of the grant application and post-award management process. I also will strive to facilitate innovative partnerships, and at the same time, ensure effective research compliance areas,” Taylor said in a statement.

The position had been filled on an interim basis by Kathy Scheibel, who remains at UA as assistant director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. Dennis Brewer previously held the position of assistant vice provost for research and sponsored programs before shifting in 2012 to serve as associate vice chancellor for information technology and director of information technology services.
