Pianist Pratt

Pianist Awadagin Pratt will give a recital at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

His program will include Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, op.24, by Johannes Brahms; "Chaconne" from the Violin Partita No. 2 in d minor, BWV 1004, by Johann Sebastian Bach, transcribed by Ferrucio Busoni; and the Piano Sonata in b minor by Franz Liszt.Admission is free. Ink-y tales

Butler Center Books, a division of the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, will hold a launch party at 6 p.m. Wednesday for Arkansas in Ink: Gunslingers, Ghosts, and Other Graphic Tales, a set of "graphic tales" from the Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture edited by Guy Lancaster and illustrated by Ron Wolfe, in the Darragh Center, Central Arkansas Library System Main Library, 100 Rock St., Little Rock. Lancaster and Wolfe will speak about the book and sign copies, which will be for sale.

Among the tales: State Rep. Joseph J. Anthony stabbing the speaker of the house to death during a debate about wolf pelts in 1837 and Hot Springs police and Garland county sheriff's officers shooting it out with each other over control of illegal gambling in 1899.

Club Circus

The Frontier Circus -- Victor El Valiente and new member Justice Williams, guitar; Lightin' Lou, bass; Daredevil Dave, drums; and Frontier Dan, guitar, vocals and theremin -- with opening act Glenn Jones will perform at 10 p.m. today at the White Water Tavern, West Seventh and Thayer streets, Little Rock. Playing Hook-y

The Central Arkansas Library System will screen the 1991 movie Hook at 7 p.m. Friday at the Ron Robinson Theater, Arcade Building, 100 River Market Ave., Little Rock.

Robin Williams plays an aging adult Peter Pan who must return to Neverland to rescue his kidnapped children and reclaim his youthful spirit to battle his old enemy, Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman).
