Proper support is a must

Have you found an all-white-attire event to attend in the Natural State this fall? Planning to go to Miami for White Party Week, Nov. 26-Dec. 1? Or do you just want to be ready when things crank back up next summer?

Here are a few sartorial tips from Shari Noel, Maumelle fashion stylist, and Little Rock stylist Lori Snyder.

• Add some print or a bit of color. Just because it's an all-white party doesn't mean that you have to limit yourself to all-white when it comes to shoes and accessories.

• Avoid wearing something that is thin and see-through. Make sure that the material is thick enough to keep others from seeing your undergarments.

• Another reason you want to avoid wearing really thin white material is because any imperfections that you have (cellulite, etc.) are bound to show. "I always encourage my clients, and people that I come into contact with while shopping, that it's important to try your clothes on before buying them," Noel says. "I don't think I can stress that enough."

• Whatever the thickness of the fabric, wear good foundation garments. "If you don't have Spanx on, if you don't have the proper undergarment, if you don't have the right lingerie, it can look so bad," Snyder says. "White can be the best look ever -- or it can be a complete disaster." She makes the client come with her to shop for foundation garments to wear under white.

• But don't sweat it too much. "Make sure that you are comfortable. Have fun with it," Noel says."Wearing all white is like a blank canvas; the sky is the limit."
