At 1:13 a.m. Sunday, Camden police officer Jamario Bush was dispatched to 618 Lincoln Center for a fire. When the officer arrived at the apartments, he exited his vehicle and heard several people yelling for him to "hurry up" because someone was hurt, according to the police report.

Bush said in the report he saw smoke coming from a window and observed a woman, later identified as Danielle Davis, holding the screen up to the window.

While looking through the window, the officer reported seeing a woman lying on the floor unresponsive; she was later identified as Erika Batton. The officer also noticed blood coming from her head and face, the report states.

Emergency Medical Services transported Erika Batton to the hospital for treatment. At the hospital, Bush reported observing that Batton had injuries consistent with that of someone being stabbed or hit with a blunt object on the head and face area, the report states.

Batton was transferred to St. Vincent's hospital by helicopter for further treatment, but was later pronounced dead.

Camden detectives are continuing to investigate Batton's death, which is being treated as a homicide.
