Teen gets 28 years for July '13 killing

EL DORADO -- One of two teenage co-defendants in a July 2013 killing was sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison on Tuesday.

Kametrice Richmond pleaded guilty in Union County Circuit Court to second-degree murder in the July 13, 2013, death of Eric Lashun Williams, 27.

Richmond turned 17 in September 2013, but it was unclear Wednesday whether he had turned 18.

In addition to the second-degree murder plea, a firearm enhancement was added, netting him a 28-year sentence in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He was credited for the 428 days of pretrial incarceration he has served in the Union County jail since his arrest in August 2013.

Richmond's co-defendant, Eric Malone, who was reported to be 17 at the time of his arrest in August 2013, is scheduled for trial on Oct. 6. His current age also was unclear Wednesday.
