Monette man charged with negligent homicide

MONETTE — A Monette man has been charged with misdemeanor negligent homicide after police said he accidentally ran over his neighbor.

Craighead County prosecutors say 45-year-old William Sevor was charged Thursday. They say he ran over 43-year-old Sandra Platz with his truck on April 24. Authorities had postponed filing charges until an autopsy was completed by the state crime lab. Results have not been reported.

Sevor told authorities he had a physical altercation with his wife before getting in the truck. He told them Platz was knocking on his window when he left but he denied hitting her.

The judge allowed Sevor to remain out of jail.

The misdemeanor charge is punishable by up to one year in jail. It wasn't immediately available if Sevor has an attorney.
