ASU rallies past Utah State 21-14 in OT

JONESBORO — Johnston White knotted the score deep in the game, Artez Brown blocked a short field goal to force overtime, and Arkansas State needed only two plays in the extra period to cap an improbable comeback victory, 21-14, over Utah State Saturday night.

Utah State had forced four turnovers and seven punts and seemed poised to nab its first win in Jonesboro, leading 14-7 with 4:58 to play. The Aggies (2-2) had Arkansas State (2-2) backed up at fourth-and-9 before a pass interference penalty gave the Red Wolves new life at the 3.

White, who rushed for 100 yards, punched it in from the 4. Utah State lined up for a 38-yard field goal try with 3 seconds left only to have Brown sweep in for the block.

In OT, Fredi Knighten fired a 24-yarder to Dijon Paschal for the win.

Utah State's Darell Garretson threw for 268 yards and two TDs.
