I-440, Arkansas 440 bridge inspections to shut lanes

Routine bridge inspections will require lane closures on Interstate 440 in Little Rock and Arkansas 440 near Jacksonville next week, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said Friday.

Interstate 440 becomes Arkansas 440 north of Interstate 40.

Crews inspecting the I-440 bridge over the Arkansas River will close the eastbound, outside lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and the westbound, outside lane during the same hours Tuesday and Wednesday, weather permitting, state highway officials said.

Meanwhile, bridge inspections will require lane closures at the Arkansas 440/U.S. 67 interchange near Jacksonville next week.

Crews will inspect the U.S. 67 South to Arkansas 440 South overpass from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and the Arkansas 440 North to U.S. 67 South overpass from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, reducing traffic to one lane each time, highway officials said.

Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.
