VOLLEYBALL

Arkansas Tech falls in five sets

Southern Nazarene defeated Arkansas Tech 25-19, 25-22, 16-25, 21-25, 15-12, Friday at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.

Emily Todd had 19 kills and 10 digs for the Golden Suns (8-5, 4-1 Great American Conference). Madison Nagel had 28 digs and Sierra Nighswonger had 48 assists and 11 digs.

Katie Huff and Sarah Bennett had 11 and 10 kills.

Arkansas Tech travels to Jackson, Tenn., today to face Union and Trevecca Nazarene.

Henderson State loses at home

Henderson State lost 25-19, 29-27, 25-23 to Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia.

Jessica Moss led the Lady Reddies with 14 kills and Rayleigh Thompson had 34 assists and 11 digs. Andjeia Reljic had 21 digs.

Henderson State hosts Northwestern Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. today.

Arkansas-Monticello sweeps East Central

Arkansas-Monticello defeated East Central 25-20, 25-21, 25-18 Friday at Steelman Field House in Monticello.

Kedra Johnson had 12 kills while hitting .700 on 17 attempts. She also had three blocks.

The Cotton Blossoms (5-5, 2-2 GAC) also had seven kills and 14 digs from Jessica Cuba. Tasha Evans had 5 kills and 4 blocks. Sydni Schultz had 5 kills and 3 blocks. Kalia Kikugawa had 16 assists and 10 digs. Brittney Beckham had 17 assists.

Arkansas-Monticello hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State at noon today.

NW Oklahoma beats Ouachita Baptist

Northwestern Oklahoma State defeated Ouachita Baptist 18-25, 25-17, 25-16, 26-24 Friday at the Sturgis Physical Education Center in Arkadelphia.

Abby Pickett led OBU (8-3, 2-2 GAC) with 13 kills and two blocks. Kelley Ballard had eight kills and five blocks. Tara Wait had 35 assists and 21 digs. Ashley Wake had 19 digs.

Ouachita Baptist hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. today.

Williams Baptist downs Hannibal-La Grange

Williams Baptist defeated Hannibal-La Grange 17-25, 25-23, 25-22, 26-24 Friday night in Walnut Ridge.

Jameea Ward led Williams Baptist with nine kills while Madison Laubach had eight kills. Kallie Ralston had seven kills and Harley Strayhorn had six. Jordan Harvey added 17 assists for Williams Baptist.

Late goal sinks Arkansas State

Lynsey Curry scored her second goal of the match in the 86th minute to lift Texas State to a 2-1 victory over Arkansas State on Friday at the Arkansas State Soccer Complex.

Curry’s go-ahead goal came one minute after Arkansas State’s Nina Simon scored the game-tying goal in the 85th minute when she scored on a deflected ball on a corner kick.

Arkansas State (3-7, 0-1 Sun Belt Conference) was held to five shots, not getting its first until the 52nd minute.

Texas State (6-3-1, 1-0) took a 1-0 lead on Curry’s first goal at the 55th minute..

Arkansas State hosts Appalachian State at 3 p.m. Sunday.
