2 suspects in Benton bank heist arrested

Two people suspected of robbing a Benton bank were arrested Monday in Louisiana, according to the Benton Police Department. Authorities are still searching for a third suspect.

Rodney Hurdsman, 45, and Stephanie Hurdsman, 39, are being held in Shreveport, awaiting extradition to Arkansas and to other states where they also face charges.

The husband and wife, along with Stephanie Hurdsman's sister, 35-year-old Oneida Saylor, are accused of robbing Malvern National Bank, 1111 Military Road in Benton, on June 16. The suspects are all from Texas.

Benton police said two people entered Malvern National Bank, pointed a pistol toward a clerk and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, they fled on foot.

Police named the suspects and issued warrants for their arrest last week. They are facing charges of aggravated robbery and theft of property.

The three were discovered to have recently traveled extensively throughout the South and are suspects in robberies in other jurisdictions, Benton police said.

The Hurdsmans and the blue BMW they were reportedly driving were located Monday, and they were taken into custody without incident. The Benton Police Department worked with the FBI; Louisiana State Police; Shreveport Police Department; the Police Department in Round Rock, Texas; and the Wise County sheriff's office -- also in Texas -- to track down the suspects.

Anyone with information about Saylor is asked to call 911 or their local law enforcement agency. She is considered to be armed and dangerous.
