CAMDEN -- A Camden woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault in the stabbing death of another woman Sunday night, Camden police said.
Kiara Ward, 21 , was "play wrestling" with a male friend outside her apartment, a Camden police report said. Her boyfriend, TaCorey Cheeks, told police that he went inside to put on shoes and when he returned, Ward was being stabbed by Veronica Yvonne Hampton, 28, of Camden.
Cheeks tried to break up the fight, and Hampton left in a vehicle, Cheeks said, according to police. In a statement to officers later, Cheeks said that he took his shirt off and attempted to wrap it around Ward's neck to stop the bleeding.
The police report states that Ward had been stabbed four times and that, before she became unconscious, she stated that Hampton was the person who stabbed her.
