Caraway talk

Actor and author Nancy Hendricks, who played Arkansas U.S. Sen. Hattie Caraway in the Arkansas Educational Television Network film Hattie Caraway: The Silent Woman, will discuss and sign copies of her book, Hattie Caraway: An Arkansas Legacy, for the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies’ monthly Legacies & Lunch lecture, noon Wednesday in the Darragh Center, Central Arkansas Library System Main Library, 100 Rock St., Little Rock. ‘Dancing Bear’ talk

Kartick Satyanaran, known in India as the “Bear Man” and the co-founder of Wildlife SOS, a nonprofit wildlife conservation organization campaigning to rescue the “dancing bears” (sloth bears that have been exploited by humans in India for the past 400 years), will give a talk titled “Solving the Dancing Bear Problem” at 6 p.m. today in Sturgis Hall, Clinton School of Public Service, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock. All dolled up

The American Girl Fashion Show, featuring fashions for girls and dolls, will take place 12:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at the Arts Center of the Ozarks, 214 S. Main St., Springdale. INC artists

Artist INC has chosen 25 central Arkansas artists for the 2014 fall session of the Artist INC Live-Argenta seminar, continuing through Nov. 3.

The list for the eight-week session consists of visual artists Brian Elliott, Cecelia Storey, Chris Massingill, Christie Young, Denise White, Diane Harper, Fran Austin, Jeff Waddle, Jennifer Wilson, Justin Bryant, Karlyn Holloway, Kelly Furr, Leigh Jacobs, Lilia Hernandez, Lisa Krannichfeld, Marty Justice, Melissa Kordsmeier, Robert Bean, Sally Nixon and Steve Rockwell; cellist Felice Magendanz-Farrell; writer Rhonda Owen; filmmakers Mark Thiedeman and Morgan Page; and comedian Amy Pannell.

“Peer Facilitators” are area artists Kevin Kresse, Matt McLeod, Kristina Marinova, Judy Goss, Dominique Simmons and Kandy Jones. “Subject Matter Experts” are Marion Boyd, Micky Stuart, Jamie Fugitt, Robin McClea and Stephen Cefalo.

The seminar, a collaborative partnership between the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City, the Charlotte Street Foundation and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Innovation Center with regional partner Mid-America Arts Alliance, lets artists learn business skills and hone and apply those skills cooperatively with their peers.
