3 held after car fire, shootout wounding

Police arrested three people Tuesday after finding a burning car outside a Little Rock home and a shooting victim next door.

Officers were dispatched to a "terroristic act" call at 4:19 p.m. and, while searching for suspects, found Serquora Mitchell's Honda Civic on fire outside her home at 10024 Republic Lane. The Little Rock Fire Department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire.

While emergency personnel were at the scene, a man police identified as Dustin Yancy, 27, drove up to the house. Yancy reportedly fled on foot when an officer approached him, but was detained a few blocks away. Officers found Yancy had active warrants, which were not specified in a police report, and arrested him.

At 5:40 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call at a home next door to Mitchell's. They found Mitchell, 42, lying on the ground at 10100 Republic Lane with a gunshot wound in a knee.

"A carload of people came to the residence and discharged a weapon striking a female occupant in the leg," police spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said. "The homeowners returned fire as the suspects fled in a vehicle."

Police found four vehicles damaged by gunfire at the scene.

Officers searched the area and found suspects in a Chevrolet Malibu. The driver, Tamyha Hill, 18, punched an officer who tried to prevent her from driving away, police said. She crashed into a parked vehicle before the officer pulled her through a window and arrested her, police said.

Hill was charged with aggravated assault and second-degree battery of a police officer.

Hill's 15-year-old brother was in the car and also struck the officer, the report states. He was also charged with second-degree battery of a police officer.

Allen said investigators believe that the fire and the shooting are connected and part of "an ongoing dispute between two groups." Further circumstances were unclear. Those involved had not been cooperative with investigators, he said.

Mitchell was hospitalized, but information on her condition was not released.

None of the three arrested were listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Wednesday.
