A FASHIONABLE WORLDVIEW

Designers Choice preview takes guests around globe

The Designers Choice Fashion Preview is always such a dazzling event that it would be easy to wonder whether founder Theresa Timmons and her production crew can possibly outdo themselves with the next incarnation. But outdo themselves they did April 4 with "The World of Fashion," the eighth annual Designers Choice event held at the Metroplex in Little Rock.

Anthony Lucas served as master of ceremonies (as well as a model for the show). A VIP red carpet reception started the Timmons Arts Foundation fundraiser. Actor Morris Chestnut, the promised co-host, was replaced by actress Vivica A. Fox, who donned two outfits by featured designer Ese Azenabor and teamed with KLRT-TV, Channel 16, anchor Donna Terrell to keep the program flowing.

This year, each designer was asked to create a line representative of the fashions particular to an assigned country. The show started with Azenabor's line, which represented Great Britain. Other designers and countries were Remi Hodges (India), Teiraney J. Ousley (Spain), Brandi Tate (Kenya), 9-year-old Mariya L. Wright (Jamaica), Stephanie Thomas (Brazil), Audrey Funk (United States), Shelia James Scott (Russia) and Anthony Lemons (Japan). Celebrity designer Korto Momolu drew from Paris to introduce guests to her new line of opulent wedding and bridal attire.

Highlighting the entertainment was an energetic performance by Young Stars, an African dance troupe under Momolu's leadership.

Proceeds from Designers Choice amounted to about $26,000, according to Timmons , which will be used to sponsor its "Cultivating the Arts" summer program for students.
