2 rob gas statio nin LR, police say

Police were investigating after two men robbed a Little Rock gas station at gunpoint Sunday night.

Officers responded at 9:37 p.m. to Murphy Oil USA at 23800 Chenal Parkway. An employee, Akanna Cherry, 28, told police two men had entered the store, pointed a gun at her and demanded money and cigarettes, according to a police incident report. Cherry gave the robbers an undisclosed amount of cash and three packs of Newport cigarettes, and the men fled north toward Cantrell Road.

No injuries were reported.

Officers searched the area and detained a man with an unrelated warrant but made no arrests in the holdup.

The suspects are both described as black, one standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds and the other as 6 feet tall and 165 pounds.

Deputies arrest one after 25-mile chase

The Pulaski County sheriff's office arrested a man Sunday who led deputies on a 25-mile chase at speeds over 100 mph, the agency reported.

The chase began about 1:37 a.m. when a deputy tried to pull over a Toyota Solara that had run a stop sign on North First Street near John Harden Drive in Jacksonville. The driver fled south onto U.S. 67 and reached about 105 mph approaching Interstate 440, according to a sheriff's office incident report. The driver then exited the highway and traveled west onto East Kiehl Avenue in Sherwood before turning north.

In the 2800 block of Kellogg Acres Road, the driver threw a golf-ball-size baggie out the window, according to the report. Deputies later searched the area but did not find the baggie.

The chase slowed when the Solara reached a gravel portion of Haynie Hill Road, the report states. Deputies followed the driver to a residence at 24 Austin Gardens Court, where he purportedly drove onto the property and fled on foot before being captured a short distance away.

The chase ended about 3 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

Joshua Kemp, 26, of 2803 Kellogg Acres Road in Sherwood was charged with fleeing, reckless driving, speeding and three counts of failure to stop or yield.

He was additionally charged with not displaying proper vehicle lights. Deputies reported that Kemp turned off the Solara's lights about 9 miles into the chase.

Kemp, who had been on parole, was being held in the Pulaski County jail late Monday.

Worker at drive-in robbed at gunpoint

An armed man robbed an employee of a drive-in fast-food restaurant Saturday night in Little Rock, police reported.

Officers responded at 11:46 p.m. to Sonic at 2917 Cantrell Road. An employee, Christy Jordan, 22, told officers a man had ordered a water. When she delivered the drink, he showed her a pistol and demanded money, according to a police incident report.

The robber fled with about $570 in cash, the report states.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as black, standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds and between the ages of 18 and 25. He wore a plaid shirt, dark blue jeans and black-and-white shoes. Police said he drove a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe with chrome or polished aftermarket wheels.

An investigation is ongoing.

Boy found in street; police arrest mom

A Mayflower woman was arrested early Monday after her 19-month-old son was found alone in a street, the Pulaski County sheriff's office reported.

Amber Bentley, 23, was booked into Pulaski County jail on a charge of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

According to a sheriff's office report, a woman spotted the boy near 5208 Young Road in North Little Rock about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. He was "very dirty," had cuts and bruises and was wearing only a diaper, the report states.

The woman took the boy to her home and called authorities.

Bentley arrived just after midnight. According to the report, she told deputies she was at a friend's house, and her son went out the front door. She later said she thought the boy was asleep, and that she found out he was gone when she went to check on him. Bentley purportedly said she had been looking for him for about 30 minutes.

The boy was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital, where an Arkansas Department of Human Services worker took custody of him.

Bentley remained on the jail's roster late Monday, and her bail was set at $1,000.

Police: Man tried to enter LR day care

Police arrested a man Friday who tried to force his way into a Little Rock day care, according to a police report.

Terrance Lee, 35, was cursing while trying to get inside Kare-a-Lot Learning Academy, 10204 Mabelvale West Road, about 10:45 a.m., the report states.

When police arrived, Lee purportedly cursed and screamed at them. Lee also threatened one officer and told another officer that he "wouldn't have a job" when Lee's lawyer got there, police said.

Lee was booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of second-degree terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct and attempt to influence a public servant.

He remained on the jail's roster late Monday with a hold placed on his custody. His bail was set at $5,500.
