Garland County inmate dead after hanging himself, official says

A Garland County jail inmate died after apparently killing himself Thursday afternoon, police say.

Aaron Brann, 54, was found about 3:35 p.m. slumped down in his cell with a sheet tied around his neck, Garland County sheriff's office spokesman Scott Hinojosa said in an email.

Deputies cut the sheet from Brann's neck and attempted to revive him before jail medical staff and Life Net personnel responded, the email states.

CPR was performed on Brann for 33 minutes until Life Net pronounced him dead, Hiojosa said.

The Garland County coroner took possession of Brann's body and notified his family, the email states.

Brann was arrested for one count of first-degree battery on Wednesday, Hinojosa said.
