ARTISTIC EGGSPRESSIONS

Supporters of Youth Home shell out $130,000 at event

Youth Home's Eggshibition at the Jack Stephens Center at University of Arkansas at Little Rock is the event where local artists and celebrities transform large plaster eggs into creative masterpieces for ticket holders to bid on.

At the event April 10, artists voted on their favorite eggs. Coming in first was Jon Hatton's Fairytale, second was Cyrene Quiamco's Blossum, and third, Debbie Deaton's I've Fallen and Can't Get Up. Rex Deloney's egg, Super Sidney & Big Nasty, received the highest winning bid of $300.

While guests placed their bids, Rodney Block and the Real Music Lovers filled the center's main court with music. Partygoers waiting to see if their bids held up could sip champagne and other libations and enjoy a buffet that included shrimp, warm brie and other cheeses, grilled vegetables and a macaroni bar with a variety of toppings.

Money raised at the event, which also included a live auction, helps fund Youth Home's programs and facilities. Youth Home offers residential and outpatient services to youth and their families, providing emotional and behavioral health care.

Adam Smith was chairman of this year's Eggshibition, which raised about $130,000 for the nonprofit, said Chrissy Chatham, Youth Home's development director.
