Man fatally shot at Little Rock shopping center

A 26-year-old man was fatally shot late Tuesday night after getting into an argument with a man at a Little Rock shopping center, authorities said.

The shooting happened about 10:45 p.m. outside the Cracker Barrel where the victim, Cortez Ferrel, worked in the 2600 block of South Shackleford Road.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, officers found Ferrel bleeding from his upper body on the parking lot of the nearby J.C. Penney. He was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center, where he died at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday from his injuries, police said.

A witness told investigators Ferrel was arguing with a man who was driving a light blue Lincoln Town Car. According to the report, Ferrel walked up to the vehicle at one point and was shot.

Little Rock Police Department spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis said in an email that authorities have located a "person of interest" in the killing.

"Investigators are still talking with witnesses to see if they can determine the nature of the argument," Little Rock Police Department Lt. Sidney Allen said in an email.

The shooter is described as a black man in his late 20s to mid-30s who had on a blue-and-white baseball hat. He was said to be unshaven with a medium complexion.
