Rider killed after motorcycle veers off road

A 36-year-old McGehee man was killed Tuesday after the motorcycle he was riding veered off a Desha County road, authorities said.

It happened about 9:30 a.m. as James Reeves was riding a 2007 Honda motorcycle east on U.S. 278 in McGehee.

According to an Arkansas State Police report, Reeves lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the highway. He suffered fatal injuries.

The cause of the single-vehicle wreck wasn't known. Conditions at the time were described as clear.

The death was the 146th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
