LITTLE ROCK — A Russellville businessman has been sworn in as the Arkansas Senate's 35th member, filling the vacancy created by a lawmaker who resigned to work for Gov. Asa Hutchinson.
Republican Greg Standridge was sworn in Wednesday to the District 16 seat vacated by former Senate President Pro Tem Michael Lamoureux, who resigned last year to work as Hutchinson's chief of staff. The district includes Pope, Newton, Van Buren, Carroll and Boone counties.
Standridge won the party's nomination in a primary runoff in February, and won the seat without opposition in a special election last week.
Standridge was sworn in shortly before lawmakers formally adjourned this year's legislative session.
