Azaleas, stone paths, trailing vines and a big screen TV

Gardeners enjoy peeking at the fabulous outdoor landscapes created by people with the means, time and expertise to do things up right.

May 2 and 3, people with tickets to the Little Rock Council of Garden Clubs’ self-guided spring tour can meander through home landscapes whose planning went above and beyond nice color combinations and aesthetically pleasing planting methods.

Among the six gardens on the tour in Little Rock’s Pleasant Valley neighborhood are “outdoor rooms” used for living and entertainment with amenities like huge fireplaces and a big-screen TV. Native-stone fountains and faux creeks, raised beds, meandering paths, arbors, azaleas and other lovely ideas will also be on display.

Janet B. Carson previews the tour and tells you where to get the $20 tickets in the HomeStyle section of Saturday’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
