Work to require I-30, I-430, I-630 lane closures

Construction work will require lane closures on Interstates 630, 430 and 30 in central Arkansas next week, state highway officials said Friday.

Crews installing an overhead sign will reduce westbound I-630 traffic to a single lane between the Baptist Health exit and the Interstate 430 North access ramp from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Traffic will be stopped intermittently during the installation, and barrels and warning signs will be used to alert drivers.

Starting Monday, crews will add a concrete barrier wall on I-430 to protection a sign structure and a pedestrian overpass, the department said. The work will shut the inside, northbound lane of I-430 from the West Markham Street overpass to the pedestrian overpass between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting, highway officials said.

Also beginning Monday, crews patching concrete and strengthening the inside shoulder of I-30 West in order to install a temporary barrier wall will work from 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. Monday night through Saturday morning, highway officials said.

Once the wall is installed, crews will start reconstructing 2.9 miles of the outside, westbound lane of I-30 west from U.S. 70 to near the Old Military Road to the U.S. 67 overpass between mile markers 111 and 108 in Saline County.

Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.
