GIANTS 3, DODGERS 2 (10)

SAN FRANCISCO -- Justin Maxwell, robbed of a big hit in his previous at-bat, singled home the winning run with one out in the 10th inning and the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Thursday for a three-game sweep.

A day after the Giants edged the Dodgers by the same 3-2 score with a run in the ninth, San Francisco again frustrated the Dodgers.

The Giants rallied in the ninth of the series finale, scoring the tying run when Casey McGehee led off with a single and Brandon Crawford tripled against Joel Peralta.

Juan Nicasio (0-1) gave up a single to Angel Pagan to open the 10th and got Buster Posey on a fly out. Pagan stole second base and Brandon Belt was walked intentionally ahead of Maxwell.

Santiago Casilla (2-0) pitched the 10th for the victory as the Giants swept the Dodgers at home for the first time since May 2013. The defending World Series champions have won 4 of 5 following an eight-game losing streak.

The Dodgers had brought a seven-game winning streak into AT&T Park this week.

Pagan, Maxwell and Joe Panik each had two hits.

Alex Guerrero homered and singled and is batting .474 (9 for 19) with 4 home runs and 12 RBI for the Dodgers. Adrian Gonzalez also homered.

Dodgers second baseman Howie Kendrick made a diving catch in the eighth that preserved the slim lead. The Giants had the bases loaded with two outs when Maxwell hit a line drive up the middle that Kendrick snared just off the ground.

Los Angeles starter Mike Bolsinger (Arkansas Razorbacks), who did not allow a run in 11 minor-league innings, took a shutout into the sixth. He finished allowing one run on five hits. He walked two and struck out five.

Bolsinger was recalled from Class AAA Oklahoma City to make the start.

Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in 6 innings. He walked one and struck out five.

In the sixth, Bolsinger gave up a one-out walk to Panik and a single to Pagan. After Posey struck out, Belt singled home a run.

CARDINALS 4, NATIONALS 1 Michael Wacha got the best of Max Scherzer in a pitcher's duel, Matt Adams singled in the tie-breaking run in the sixth inning and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the host Washington Nationals for their fourth consecutive series victory. Matt Carpenter had two hits and scored a run for the Cardinals, who have won seven of eight.

PIRATES 5, CUBS 4 Gregory Polanco had three hits, including a go-ahead single in the seventh inning off Cubs reliever Phil Coke, to lift the Pittsburgh Pirates to a victory over visiting Chicago. Josh Harrison doubled twice for the Pirates and Sean Rodriguez hit his first home run of the season.

MARLINS 9, PHILLIES 1 David Phelps tossed three-hit ball over seven innings, Martin Prado drove in four runs and Adeiny Hechavarria had four hits to help the Miami Marlins beat the host Philadelphia Phillies. Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run home run and Hechavarria drove in three runs for Miami.

METS 6, BRAVES 3 Daniel Murphy drove in four runs and the New York Mets matched a franchise record with their 11th consecutive victory, walking their way to a victory over the visiting Atlanta Braves behind Bartolo Colon. Murphy hit an early three-run double, and the 41-year-old Colon outpitched All-Star Julio Teheran in a matchup of unbeaten starters.

BREWERS 4, REDS 2 Kyle Lohse bounced back from a poor start this season and the host Milwaukee Brewers ended an eight-game losing streak, beating the Cincinnati Reds. Lohse (1-3) pitched seven neat innings after losing his first three starts with a 10.34 ERA.

ROCKIES 2, PADRES 1 Corey Dickerson hit a go-ahead home run leading off the fifth inning and Jordan Lyles pitched effectively into the seventh, helping the Colorado Rockies to a victory over the visiting San Diego Padres. Lyles (2-1) shut down one of baseball's top-hitting teams, allowing 1 run and 6 hits in 6 2/3 innings.
