At school, handgun found in teen's car

A 17-year-old student at Lisa Academy was arrested Thursday morning on accusations of having a loaded gun in his car in the school's parking lot, Little Rock police said.

Police were conducting a narcotics search of students' lockers and vehicles requested by school administrators at the school on Corporate Hill Drive, according to a police report. About 9:50 a.m. Thursday, the canine unit detected possible narcotics in a 1999 Toyota Camry during an exterior search.

While waiting for an assistant principal to bring the driver of the car to the parking lot, the officer peered into the vehicle and spotted what appeared to be a handgun wedged against the front floorboard, police reported.

The assistant principal entered the vehicle, and the officer removed a .40-caliber handgun, with one round chambered and three more rounds in the magazine, police said.

Police determined the handgun was stolen from Benton.

After being interviewed by detectives, the student was charged with possession of a handgun on school property and theft of property and taken to the Pulaski County Juvenile Detention Center, police reported.

16-mile car chase ends with 1 charged

A teenage boy led authorities on a 16-mile chase in a stolen pickup Wednesday night, Little Rock police reported.

Officers responded about 8:51 p.m. to the 9400 block of Woodford Drive, where the occupants of a silver 2013 GMC Sierra reportedly had been driving around and shooting a gun. After an officer found the vehicle, which had been reported stolen, the driver fled from a traffic stop onto Arkansas 5.

Arkansas State Police joined the officers and chased the vehicle into Benton, where the driver crashed at West North and North Main streets, according to a police report. Three teens and a 22-year-old man fled the vehicle and were soon arrested.

The chase lasted about 24 minutes. No injuries were reported.

Police identified the driver as Samuel Khabeer, 17, of Little Rock. He was charged as an adult with fleeing, reckless driving and theft by receiving, in addition to numerous traffic violations.

The three passengers were released without charges.

Khabeer was being held in the Pulaski County jail late Thursday.

Air Force base TVs stolen; one arrested

Jacksonville police arrested a man Wednesday who stole two big-screen TVs from a store at the Little Rock Air Force Base, according to an arrest report.

Johnathen Roush, 24, was charged with two counts of theft of property.

Police said surveillance cameras Tuesday recorded Roush taking a 70-inch Vizio LED TV from the base's Exchange store and loading it into his father's Ford Explorer. The retail price of the TV is about $1,300.

Roush returned to the store with an empty box later that day and stole another TV of the same model, according to the report.

Security personnel detained Roush when he came back to the store about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. Police soon arrived and arrested him.

He was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Thursday.

LR resident robbed at gunpoint at home

Little Rock police were investigating after a man was robbed at gunpoint outside his home Tuesday.

Officers responded about 10:29 p.m. to Shackleford Mobile Home Park at 4023 S. Shackleford Road. Anderson Delcid, 25, said he'd driven home from a store when a green Chevrolet Suburban pulled behind him. Two men exited the vehicle and took Delcid's wallet and cellphone at gunpoint before fleeing, said a police report.

Both assailants are described as black, one standing 6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds and the other standing at 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds.

Suspect in February robbery put in jail

A man accused of robbing a North Little Rock woman at gunpoint in front of her two children was arrested Tuesday.

Officers on Feb. 20 responded about 7:49 p.m. to the Hemlock Courts Housing Project at 400 N. Palm St. Gloria Carlton, 26, said she and her two children, ages 5 and 7, were entering her car when a man with a silver handgun approached, according to a police report. The man took her purse.

Police identified the suspect as Cordarryll Cole, 25, of Little Rock. He was arrested Tuesday at a Habitat For Humanity store at 2657 Pike Ave. in North Little Rock.

He was being held in the Pulaski County jail on $50,000 bail late Thursday.
