Texarkana man imprisoned for stealing from judge

TEXARKANA, Ark. — A federal judge sentenced a man on Thursday to two and a half years in prison for stealing cash from a federal judge's purse and a gun from a federal probation office.

The Texarkana Gazette reported that 22-year-old Joshua Ryan Dorman appeared for sentencing in the same federal building he committed his crimes in. Dorman had been working on renovations to the building in 2014 when court documents show he helped himself to cash found in U.S. Magistrate Judge Caroline Craven's purse and to a gun he found locked in an office.

Dorman apologized Thursday to his victims and his family.

In addition to a prison sentence, the judge ordered Dorman to pay $593.56 in restitution. He has been in police custody since his arrest on Aug. 29, 2014.
