Pulaski County jailer arrested

He’s 3rd charged in under 4 weeks

A Pulaski County jail deputy was arrested Thursday evening, accused of attempting to smuggle contraband into the lockup. He is the third jail officer arrested in less than a month.

Kyle Guyer, 24, of 2483 Ballard Road in Cabot, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the jail, according to an arrest report. He was charged with use of a communication device in the commission of a felony, furnishing prohibited articles, criminal attempt to deliver marijuana, criminal attempt to deliver methamphetamine and unauthorized use of another's property to facilitate certain crimes.

Guyer, who had been employed at the jail for less than a year, resigned Thursday. He was being held in the jail Friday evening in lieu of an $85,000 bond.

Guyer faces a May 26 court date in Pulaski County District Court.

According to a Pulaski County sheriff's office report, investigators intercepted a jail telephone call Thursday indicating a contraband drop was scheduled for that afternoon. The call was from prisoner Wesley Wooley III to his father, Wesley Wooley, explaining the contraband drop would be in a deputy's vehicle at the jail, the report said.

Sheriff's investigators established surveillance on the deputy's vehicle and observed the elder Wooley drop a package into the bed of the truck, the report states. Lisa Gray arrived in a second vehicle and was viewed dropping a second package into the truck bed.

Guyer was then seen exiting the jail and walking toward the truck, which belonged to another deputy, retrieving one of the packages and walking back to the jail, the report states. When approached by investigators, Guyer dropped the package into a garbage can and walked into the jail's break room, where he was arrested, the report said.

Investigators retrieved the second package from the truck, according to the report.

The sheriff's office reported that the first package contained chewing tobacco, cigarettes, candy and $20. The second package was a smokeless-tobacco can with a thin layer of tobacco covering marijuana and methamphetamine.

According to arrest reports, Gray and the elder Wooley were arrested at 6 p.m. Thursday at the jail. Gray admitted she was paid $100 to make the delivery.

Gray, 43, whose listed address was 6400 Sunshine Lane in Jacksonville, was charged with furnishing prohibited articles, use of a communication device in the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver, possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released Friday on a $68,000 bond.

Wooley, 57, whose listed address was 1123 W. 36th St. in North Little Rock, was charged with furnishing prohibited articles. He was released Friday on a $15,000 bond.

Wesley Wooley III, 24, of 1123 W. 36th St. in North Little Rock, was arrested at 11 a.m. Friday at the sheriff's office, according to an arrest report. He admitted to coordinating the deliveries and was charged with use of a communication device in the commission of a felony and criminal attempt to possess prohibited articles.

He already was being held at the jail with no bond set on aggravated-robbery and capital-murder charges from an October shooting in Little Rock.

Guyer's arrest is the third of a jail officer in four weeks.
