Freckles POTW pet of the week

Freckles (34523) is our pet of the week. He is about 2 years old. He's a medium-sized mix of border collie and Catahoula leopard dog. His striking coat is mostly black but with gray markings that look like they were gently added with a paintbrush. One eye is brown, the other brown and white. Volunteers find him to be a calm and highly intelligent dog who sits, comes, shakes hands and does well walking on a leash. As a herding dog, he needs a big yard or farm where he can roam.

Canine Close-Up

Bug (34524), about 8 months old, is a black and white Labrador retriever whose tail can't wag fast enough. He's hugely friendly with cheerful eyes. He can get along with other dogs. Volunteers find him to be a sweet dog, although as a puppy, he sometimes plays a bit rough.

Duchess (34343) is a black and tan shepherd. She's a young adult, about 1 year old, but still as energetic and playful as a puppy. She adores being scratched and cuddled.

Hank (34082) is one handsome fellow with his luxurious short-haired coat. He's a big dog, weighing in at 43.2 pounds, and is a Labrador retriever/shepherd mix. He's good with kids and other dogs and would be great on a farm.

Featured Felines

Pantro (34487), a young adult, is a big guy at 14-plus pounds. He's mainly black but has a tiny touch of brown on his nose. He has a low voice that sounds a bit like he's trying to "talk" and purr at the same time, saying "hey-y-y-y." He loves to be scratched.

Eros (34505) is a sleek gray and white short-haired cat who was found as a stray. About 2 years old, he's medium-sized at 10 pounds. He seems shy at first, but once introduced is more than ready to roll over for a tummy scratch. He's good with children and other cats.

Melanie (32398) also arrived as a stray. She's a tabby, mostly gray and black, just 7 months old. Even though she's small at 3.5 pounds, she has plenty of kitten-style energy.

Smokey (34432) is a 2-year-old tortoiseshell whose coat is a wild mix of black and orange with a touch of white. She weighs 8 pounds. Her owner had too many cats, and she deserves to be a princess in her own realm.

Harper (34292) is maybe 1 year old. He's a gray tabby with a mostly white nose, chin, chest, belly and paws. His coat is short, his tail fluffy, and he weighs just over 6 pounds. He's shy at first, but that's easily overcome with soft talk and petting.
