TRAVELERS 3, CARDINALS 1

Arkansas scored three times with two outs in the top of the seventh inning Saturday night and defeated Springfield 3-1 in front of 5,076 at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo.

Down 1-0 going into the top of the seventh, the Travelers (10-5) loaded the bases with one out off Springfield reliever Corey Baker (1-1). Cal Towey's sacrifice fly to center field scored Drew Maggi to tie the score at 1-1. Brian Hernandez followed with a two-run single to left center to score Sherman Johnson and Chad Hinshaw for a 3-1 advantage.

Arkansas reliever Michael Brady gave up three consecutive singles in the bottom of the eighth, but came out of the inning unscathed. He struck out cleanup hitter Jonathan Rodriguez before inducing Aledmys Diaz to ground into a double play to Johnson at second base.

Trevor Gott relieved Brady to begin the ninth and retired the Cardinals (5-10) in order to pick up his third save.

Springfield got to Arkansas starter Nate Smith (3-0) for its lone run in the sixth when Jacob Wilson hit his fourth home run of the season, a two-out shot to right field on a 3-1 pitch.

Smith allowed just the 1 run in 6 2/3 innings, striking out 3 and walking 1 in lowering his ERA to 1.54 on the season.

The Travelers, who were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position, managed five hits off three Springfield starters with Maggi's two doubles leading the way. The two hits raised Maggi's average to .382.

Wilson and Rodriguez had two hits apiece for the Cardinals, who went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Los Angeles Dodgers' top prospect Corey Seager hit two home runs to lead the Drillers (10-5) in front of 8,035 at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Northwest Arkansas (6-9) got back-to-back home runs from Mike Bianucci and Alex Liddi to lead off the third inning that gave the Naturals a 2-1 lead.

They made it 3-1 in the fourth when Balbino Fuenmayor lined a 1-2 pitch with one out for his second home run of the season.
