LR woman charged in kid-neglect case

A Little Rock woman was arrested after her landlords found four children alone in a dirty, hot apartment Saturday, police reported.

Joy Marie Tate, 26, was booked into Pulaski County jail on four charges of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

Tate's landlords went to Tate's apartment at 8024 W. 33rd St. on Saturday afternoon to collect overdue rent. According to a police report, there were four children in the apartment, all born between 2012 and 2014.

The report states the house was dirty and hot because there was no air conditioning or ventilation.

Tate returned to the apartment approximately two and a half hours later and was arrested. The children were taken into the custody of the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Police discovered Tate had warrants out for her arrest out of Little Rock and Maumelle for failure to appear.

Tate remained on the jail's roster late Sunday. Her bail was set at $11,300.

Threats with knife lead to NLR arrest

A 76-year-old woman wielded a knife while confronting another woman Thursday, North Little Rock police reported.

Jozelle Faye Mitchell of North Little Rock is accused of going to the home of her neighbor, Rhonda Robinson, putting a knife up to Robinson's face, and yelling, "You're a liar," a police report states.

Mitchell told police she took the knife to Robinson's home because she was concerned that Robinson had weapons. According to a police report, Mitchell was confronting Robinson about lying in a previous police incident.

Police arrested Mitchell, and she was booked into Pulaski County jail on a charge of aggravated assault.

Mitchell's bail was set at $25,000. She was no longer listed on the jail's roster late Sunday.

Officers said to find drugs near day care

North Little Rock police found several baggies of crack cocaine in a home a block away from a day care, according to a police report.

Police were called to 605 W. 22nd St. in North Little Rock over an argument between Rickey Whitley, 42, and Kristi Henderson, 28. According to a police report, Whitley had been living at the home for three days, and Henderson wanted him to leave.

While officers waited for Henderson to pack his belongings, they saw the drugs in a clear water pitcher on the kitchen counter, the report states. Police said the 7 grams tested positive for cocaine.

Henderson's 4-year-old was at the home at the time. The report says the drugs "could have easily been accessible" to the child.

The residence is near Silver City Head Start Center, 2023 Allen St., which is operated by the North Little Rock Housing Authority.

Henderson and Whitley were booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of possession of cocaine with purpose to deliver and maintaining a drug premises near a drug-free zone. Henderson also faces a charge of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

Both remained on the jail's roster late Sunday. Henderson's bail was set at $51,500, and Whitley's was set at $50,000.

Police say solicitor arrested at bus stop

A man told people at River Cities Travel Center that he could get them free cellphones if he could get information from their driver's licenses, Little Rock police reported.

The man, identified by police as 19-year-old Sydney Dorsey, was at the Central Arkansas Transit Authority location on Thursday and was told he needed a business license and permission from CATA to solicit, police said.

Dorsey showed up again Saturday about 3:30 p.m. and was arrested.

According to a police report, Dorsey refused to give police his social security number, and he gave officers a false name. He also would not identify two men who had been with him at the time. Police suspected the three men were working together.

Dorsey was booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of loitering, obstruction of government operations and criminal impersonation.

His bail was set at $800. He was no longer listed on the jail's roster late Sunday.
