Trooper: Jonesboro motorcyclist dies after crash

JONESBORO — The Arkansas State Police say a motorcyclist has died after losing control of his vehicle.

The agency said 43-year-old James Johnson of Jonesboro wrecked near Arkansas 141 on Sunday night. The trooper who responded said Johnson was traveling at high speed when he crossed the centerline of the highway and struck a tree.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the weather conditions were clear at the time.

Johnson was taken to The Med in Memphis, where he later died. His death marked the 149th in accidents on state roads so far this year, according to preliminary state police figures.
