Arkansas women sign Cosper

Arkansas women’s coach Jimmy Dykes signed his ninth prospect to a national letter of intent on Monday when guard Devin Cosper inked with the Hogs.

Cosper, 5-10 of Coffeyville Community College in Kansas was the only freshman named first team junior college All-America this spring. She averaged 20.0 points, 4.8 rebounds while shooting 52.4 precent from the field this past season.

“I just had a really good feeling when I stepped on the campus and everybody was just friendly,” said Cosper, who recently visited Fayetteville. “It was real homey and they treated everybody like family and I really liked the atmosphere.”

Forward Angelica de Paulo, 6-1 of New Mexico Junior College and center Alecia Cooley, 6-3 of State Fair Community College also signed with Arkansas and were named first team junior college All Americans.

Cosper chose the Razorbacks over Oklahoma State and Wichita State and will have three years of eligibility. She set a school record of 11.64 seconds in the 100 meters at Coffeyville Field Kindley High School and finished second in the state as a sophomore and junior and while winning as a senior.

“Devin has the potential to impact our team right away,” Dykes said. “She is a tremendous athlete and was the state champion in the 100 meters in high school. We are thrilled that she has decided to join our program.”
