Murphy Oil: CEO's treatment went well

Murphy Oil Corp.'s chief executive officer "underwent an unscheduled medical procedure" Tuesday morning in El Dorado, the company said in a statement on its website.

Murphy Oil said "the procedure went well" and that Roger Jenkins is expected back at work next week.

Murphy Oil will hold a conference call at noon Thursday to discuss its 2015 first-quarter financial results, which will be released today.

The call will be led by John Eckart, company executive vice president and chief financial officer, Murphy Oil said.

Eckart will be joined by Gene Coleman, the company's executive vice president of global offshore, and Mike McFadyen, executive vice president of North America onshore, according to the news release.

USA Truck wins 3rd straight Alcoa honor

USA Truck was named Alcoa's Tier 1 Core Carrier of the Year for the third consecutive year.

Alcoa recognized the Van Buren-based company for commendable dry van service. It was the ninth year Alcoa, a New York-based global leader in lightweight metals technology, engineering and manufacturing, has recognized its top carriers in a variety of categories.

Seven criteria are used to determine the top core carriers, which must be under contract with Alcoa and meet volume minimums for at least 10 months of the year to be eligible.

"Alcoa's recognition of our excellence in service and capacity solutions for the third year in a row is a reflection on the consistency of execution from our team members across our multiple service offerings," said Jaimey Malone, USA Truck's vice president of sales.

State index up 2.39; Windstream gains

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, gained 2.39 to 398.37 on Tuesday.

"The major averages fluctuated as investors responded to a hodgepodge of earnings reports and economic data while awaiting news from the Federal Reserve meeting," said Bob Williams, senior vice president and managing director of Simmons First Investment Group Inc. in Little Rock.

Windstream was active and rebounded after the spinoff of its real estate holdings and reverse split over the weekend, ending the session up 12.2 percent, Williams said.

Total volume of the index was 46.3 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
