Man shot in ankle in front of LR apartments

A 23-year-old Little Rock man was shot in the ankle Wednesday night while walking in front of a local apartment complex, police said.

Authorities say it happened about 9:20 p.m. as DeAndre Jackson walked in front of Trinity Village Apartments on John Barrow Road near Kanis Road.

Jackson told investigators he was shot in the left ankle "by an unknown subject," which caused him to collapse in front of a nearby restaurant, according to a Little Rock Police Department report. The document lists the incident as a drive-by shooting.

He was then taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.

Authorities were notified at the hospital of the shooting. The report says Jackson "refused to give" further details about what happened.

No description of the gunman was included in the report, and no arrests have been made.
