SPRINGDALE -- A man shot his brother outside a home at West Gibbs Road, then called police at 3:27 p.m. Friday, Lt. Scott Lewis said Friday.

Johnathan W. Pollard, 22, shot his brother, James E. Pollard, 25, outside a home at 7744 W. Gibbs Road, Lewis said. He called police and talked with a dispatcher for 26 minutes waiting for help, according to a news release.

The home where Pollard was shot belongs to Bobby Ray Cousins, according to county property records.

Johnathan Pollard was arrested Friday in connection with first-degree domestic battery, according to a police news release. Other offenses could follow, the release said.

Lewis wouldn't release the condition of James Pollard on Friday. No information was available about where Pollard was shot. Pollard was "taken from the scene prior to officers' arrival," according to a news release.

He was later taken to a hospital in Springdale, the release shows.

Pollard wasn't listed as a patient at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale or at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville on Friday evening, employees there said. Springdale Fire Chief Mike Irwin didn't return a message left on his cell phone Friday night.

Little information was released by police Friday.

Lewis said he had no comment on whether the shooting was accidental. He also had no comment on whether drugs were involved. No call log was available Friday, Lewis said.

Investigators remained at the scene Friday past 6 p.m. Friday, Lewis said. Johnathan Pollard hadn't yet been booked into the Washington County Detention Center by 7:15 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing, Lewis said.
