Moonlight and Magnolias Auditions

CONWAY — The Conway Community Arts Association and the Lantern Theatre will hold auditions for their next production, Moonlight and Magnolias, at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Lantern, 1021 Van Ronkle St. Trent Reese will direct the play. First Wednesday Ladies’ Lunch Break

CONWAY — The First Wednesday Ladies’ Lunch Break will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at Dave Ward Drive and Farris Road. Guest speaker Andrea Lennon will speak on her latest book, On the Road With Ruth. Lunch costs $5 and includes a drink and dessert. Women of all ages are invited to attend. Small Business Forum: Ask the Experts

RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will present Small Business Forum: Ask the Experts from 9-11 a.m. at Arkansas Tech University. The free forum is for anyone who wants to start a business, including those new to business and seasoned business owners. Five experts — an attorney, a certified public accountant, a marketing specialist, a business consultant and a lender — will discuss topics concerning small-business ownership, management and best practices. Sacred Heart Back-to-School Dates

MORRILTON — Sacred Heart Catholic School will hold K-12 registration for the 2015-2016 school year from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Families need to report to the cafeteria during this time to complete necessary forms, pay tuition and fees, and pick up important information. A back-to-school pool party for all pre-K through 12th-grade students and their families will be held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Morrilton City Pool. An open house for K-12th grades will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 13, beginning at the church, with classroom visits to follow. Classes will officially begin Aug. 17.

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library presents its fourth annual Summer Concert Series, with music from local musicians. The event is held indoors to beat the heat. All concerts are at 2 p.m. Sundays. The Rocky Horror Show Auditions

CONWAY — The Conway Community Arts Association and the Lantern Theatre will hold auditions for its special anniversary presentation of The Rocky Horror Show, directed by Justin Pike. The auditions will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 10 and 11 at the Lantern Theatre, 1021 Van Ronkle St. This cult-classic musical calls for a cast of seven men and three women, plus a chorus. Everyone must be able to sing and, preferably, read music. Auditioners should be prepared to sing 32 bars of music in the Rocky Horror style and bring their own music. A pianist will be provided. Production dates will be Oct. 15-18, 22-25 and 29-31. Rehearsals will be in the daytime on Saturdays, and in the evenings on Sunday through Wednesday. Starlight Cinema

MORRILTON — The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will show Avengers: Age of Ultron at sundown Aug. 11 on the lawn outside the Fine Arts Auditorium at UACCM. The special back-to-school bash is part of the Starlight Cinema, a free community movie night. Guests need to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Maumelle AARP Chapter Meeting

MAUMELLE — The Maumelle AARP Chapter will meet at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Maumelle Senior Wellness Center. The Nash Law Firm will provide the program and a meal for members and guests. Vilonia UMC Flea Market

VILONIA — As part of the annual Bargains Galore on Highway 64 — Arkansas’ 160 miles of crafts, yard sales and flea markets in cities from Fort Smith to Beebe — Vilonia United Methodist Church will rent booths for selling items in the air-conditioned indoors and booths outside in the parking lot. The booths will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 13 and 14, and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 15. The Vilonia United Methodist Women will serve breakfast and lunch during the event. Pastor Nathan Kilbourne will provide smoked pork for lunch. All proceeds from the Vilonia UMC event will support United Methodist Women missions. Spaghetti Supper and Bake Sale

ST. VINCENT — Knights of Columbus Council 10908 in St. Vincent will hold its annual spaghetti and meatball supper from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 15. Green beans, coleslaw and dessert will also be served. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12 . Children 4 and younger may eat free. Takeout meals will be available for $10 each. Ships of War Presentation

CONWAY — John Lambert, the author of USS Independence CVL-22: A War Diary of the Nations’s First Dedicated Night Carrier, will present Ships of War at 2 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Faulkner County Library. Lambert will discuss the history of this fast aircraft carrier during its service and following its decommission, including the story of the ship and her aviators in action against the Japanese Empire in the Philippines, Okinawa, Indochina and onward to the waters off Japan. Life Choices Gala

CONWAY — Life Choices, a pregnancy resource center in downtown Conway, will host its annual fundraising gala, titled Celebrating 35 Years of Life, on Sept. 12 at the Conway Expo Center. The featured speakers will be Alan and Lisa Robertson of A&E’s Duck Dynasty. The event will be catered by D&L Catering and will feature a live auction, as well as a ministry update.
