Pulaski County inmate found dead

A Pulaski County jail inmate was found dead early Monday, the sheriff’s office announced.

Troy Rupe, 64, was found about 4:50 a.m. Monday lying face down on the floor of his cell. Responding deputies turned him to find he was bleeding from his nose.

Medical personnel tried to revive Rupe before he was taken to UAMS Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Rupe, of Star City, was being held on a parole violation and hot check charges, Pulaski County sheriff's office spokesman Capt. Carl Minden said.

The sheriff’s office believes Rupe died of natural causes, but the exact case is still pending from the state medical examiner, Minden said.
