Windstream awarded $450M contract with VA

Little Rock-based Windstream Holdings Inc. has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide voice, data and Internet services, which could be worth up to $450 million over the next five years, the company said Tuesday.

The telecommunications firm is one of three awardees of the contract with the VA's Office of Information and Technology.

Windstream’s technology will be installed at 2,100 facilities nationwide, the company said in a statement.

Multi-location VA medical clinics and facilities will receive services such as high-speed Ethernet Internet services, and rural clinics will benefit from “teleconferencing technology in order to communicate with hard to reach patients and medical practitioners,” Windstream said.
