Rep. Clarke Tucker, D-Little Rock, and Rep. Bob Ballinger, R-Hindsville, will speak at the Political Animals Club's Friday lunch about the process that led to passage of the state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
Ballinger was a sponsor of House Bill 1228, which gave greater legal protections for Arkansans from government action that "substantially" burdened their rights of religion, if the government lacked a "compelling state interest" for what it did.
A compromise bill was brokered, and eventually passed.
Friday's event will be held at the Pleasant Valley Country Club and will start at 11:30 a.m. Tickets for the lunch, available at the door, cost $20.
