Lawmen say body likely missing man

GRUBBS -- Authorities believe a body found Thursday in Grubbs was that of a man reported missing earlier in the week, a Jackson County sheriff's office news release said.

Shortly after 4 p.m., searchers reported finding a body at the intersection of Guffey Street and Jackson County Road 1205 in Grubbs.

"We believe the person located is the missing man that was reported to our department on Tuesday," sheriff's Lt. Ricky Morales said in the release.

On Wednesday, Morales said the office was investigating the disappearance of Jesus Martinez-Munoz, also known as Jessie Martinez, and asked for Grubbs residents to keep a watch on farms and fields.

The body fund Thursday will be transported to the state Crime Laboratory for positive identification, the release said.
