Lawmen comb site in search for man

Authorities in Ashley and Drew counties, along with the Arkansas State Police, are investigating the disappearance of a Hamburg man.

The family of Sam Arnold Jr., 41, of Hamburg filed a missing-person report with the Hamburg Police Department on July 27, according to a state police news release. Arnold was last seen leaving work that day.

Authorities found a site Thursday on private property in Drew County where someone may have been killed, the release said.

"While remains believed to be human have been found on the property, there is no confirmation of an identity associated with the particular remains that have been recovered," state police spokesman Bill Sadler said in an email. "A search of the property is continuing."

An unidentified Monticello woman was being held in the Drew County jail in Arnold's disappearance, the release said.
