Federal authorities investigating collision of 2 Georgia trains

SANDERSVILLE, Ga. — Federal authorities are investigating how two trains collided in central Georgia, injuring four people.

WGXA-TV reports that the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Railroad Administration are investigating Friday's wreck in the Washington County town of Sandersville.

A Norfolk Southern spokesman told WMAZ-TV that one train was westbound and other was heading east.

Authorities say two members of the crew were flown by helicopter to an Augusta hospital, and two other people were treated at a local hospital.

Names of the people injured were not released, nor were details about the extent of their injuries.
