FAYETTEVILLE -- No matter which golf course the Fayetteville senior high boys settle in at this season as its home stomping grounds, the Bulldogs appear ready to travel with a strong game.

With its regular home course Paradise Valley Athletic Club unavailable due to necessary upgrades, Fayetteville turned to the Links at Fayetteville on Tuesday for a home match against Shiloh Christian. Despite the limited amount of practice at the par-35, nine-hole Lindsey Management course, the Purple'Dogs appeared unfazed in a 148-193 victory over the Saints.

"We were out here (Monday) and were able to practice out here a little, and I think they took advantage of being able to see the setup," Fayetteville golf coach Scott Williams said. "But they played well and that's something that was good to see, because now our home matches are going to feel like away matches. And it's not something that we're totally unfamiliar with. But we're just not as familiar with it as Paradise (Valley)."

Senior Luke Long played in the No. 1 position for the Purple'Dogs and led the way with an even par 35. Fletcher McSpadden added a 37, with both Jackson Cole and John Gibson providing a pair of 38's.

Palmer Hays added a 39 for the varsity team, while Andrew Elsass led all scorers from the next five Fayetteville lineup with a 34.

"This (course change) may be a blessing in disguise," Williams said. "We want to be able to say we can go anywhere and play when it's all said and done. That's what we're having to do. So for those guys to be able to take their game from one course to another and adjust it, that's a big part of winning big golf."
