Blaze destroys Bryant shoe store

Emergency crews from Bryant, Benton and Little Rock were battling a blaze at a Bryant shoe store Sunday morning.

Bryant Police Department spokesman’s Sgt. Todd Crowson said firefighters responded about 8:30 a.m. to the Shoe Carnival store located in the shopping center at 7349 Alcoa Rd.

At 11 a.m., Crowson said the fire had been contained.

The store fire alarm triggered the call to firefighters, Crowson said. No injuries have been reported.

The blaze destroyed the shoe store. “It’s gone,” Crowson said. “It’s fully gone.”

Neighboring stores Rue 21 and Old Navy did not sustain any fire damage, Crowson said, but there is smoke damage.

Heat exhaustion is a concern, and water, Gatorade and medical assistance is available on scene for emergency personnel, Crowson said.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
