Hooks extend Travs' skid to 4 games

The Arkansas Travelers lost their fourth consecutive game, falling 8-4 to the Corpus Christi Hooks on Tuesday night at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The Travs fell two games behind the Springfield Cardinals for first place in the Texas League North Division.

A.J. Reed went 4 for 4 to lead Corpus Christi, while Teoscar Hernandez finished 2 for 4 with a two-run home run. Jon Kemmer had three hits, including a three-run home run in the Hooks' four-run first inning.

Arkansas starting pitcher Chris Ellis (5-3) struggled, allowing 8 runs, 3 earned, on 8 hits in 4 innings. He struck out five and walked one.

Lance McCullers, who is 5-4 with a 3.17 ERA with the Houston Astros this season, started Tuesday for Corpus Christi. McCullers gave up 1 run on 1 hit in 3 innings, striking out 5 and walking 3.

Northwest Arkansas managed three hits against San Antonio starting pitcher Ronald Herrera in a loss to the Missions at Wolff Municipal Stadium in San Antonio.

Herrerra (3-0) struck out seven in a complete-game shutout.

Yeison Asencio went 2 for 4 and drove in 3 runs for San Antonio.

Kyle Zimmer (1-3) allowed 3 runs on 7 hits over 6 innings for the Naturals. He struck out five and walked one.

Ramon Torres, Bubba Starling and Kenny Diekroeger each had hit for Northwest Arkansas.
