Car Show and Cruise

Retired Teachers Association Meeting

CABOT — The Lonoke Retired Teachers Association will meet Aug. 31 at Cabot United Methodist Church, 2003 S. KidStage Registration

SEARCY — KidStage will have students produce two one-act plays. Classes will begin Sept. 8 and 10. Fundraiser Concert

Digital Photography Course

Outdoor Survival Classes

BATESVILLE — Dan Nash, a professional mountain guide, will teach two survival-training classes Sept. 26 in Room 902 of the Nursing Allied Health Building at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, along with field exercises outdoors. OktoberFest in Fairfield Bay

FAIRFIELD BAY — The two-day OktoberFest, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 9 and run until 10 p.m., with local arts and crafts offered for sale until 6 p.m. German food, music and dance will round out the day’s events. On Oct. 10, the festival will open at 9 a.m. and will feature Thunder in the Bay, a motorcycle rally sponsored by the Fairfield Bay Chamber of Commerce, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; a Volkswagen Show and Shine until 5 p.m.; and an OktoberFest celebration and dance, with an oom-pah-pah band playing from 7-10 p.m. The city’s sixth annual StoryFest, suitable for all ages, will also be held Oct. 10 and feature Sean Buvala and Minton Sparks. Morning storyteller sessions will begin at 9:30, and afternoon sessions at 1:30. All performances will be at the Fairfield Bay Conference and Visitor Center.

White River Medical Center 5K

BATESVILLE — The White River Medical Center 5K Run/Walk will be held at 8 a.m. Oct. 17. Registration will be from 6:30-7:30 a.m. The preregistration fee is $15 for White River Health System employees, $20 for the general public and $10 for the kids’ run. The deadline to preregister is Oct. 9. After the deadline, the entry fee will be $25 per person and $10 for the kids’ run.
